FLIRT (1996) screens at IFC Center in New York Wednesday April 4 at 8pm. Tickets available here. Hal and members of the cast will be present. This is the first digitally restored 16×9 version of the film ever screened. What Hal says: “The best work I’ve ever done.”
Hal’s “whimsical yet deeply serious” (The New York Times) groundbreaking 1998 digital feature, The Book of Life, will receive a special screening at the IFC Center in New York on Thursday, March 21 at 8pm. Tickets available here.
“Caroline” is by Pete Galub and his band, the Annuals, circa 2002 from the album Boy Gone Wrong. Pete has another song in the film too and is close to finishing a new album. I’ve been a fan for years. Hope you enjoy it.

To mark the halfway point in our Meanwhile/Kickstarter pledge drive, here’s a song I made for Meanwhile but didn’t use. It starts with the melody of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition” and morphs into two themes I do use throughout the film.
Meanwhile concerns Joe Fulton, a man who can do anything from fixing your sink to arranging international financing for a construction project. He produces online advertising and he’s written a big fat novel. He’s also a pretty good drummer. But success eludes him.
